The Raised Flag is receiving reports that West Ham ace Dimitri Payet has had his house burned down.

The want-away midfielder has had a rough few weeks after announcing he will no longer play for the Hammers; First Payet was removed from a players WhatsApp group, then he was forced to train with the under 23’s, then a brick was thrown through his car’s window outside his Essex home.

News went from bad to worse for the Frenchman as, last night, his house was razed to the ground. Payetreportedly ran from the burning cottage in the middle of the night wearing only Olympique de Marseille pants. He will be disappointed to see his house, initially valued at £1.2m, destroyed as a large portion of his belongings were inside at the time of the blaze.

West Ham seem unwilling to take a loss on Payet, refusing to lower their asking price, despite repeated bids from his old club, OM, reaching heights of €30m. Despite his outspoken unhappiness at the struggling East London club, Payet has yet to officially hand in a transfer request.

There are reports that if the request does come in before the waning January window closes that his wife and children – who have already returned to France – will leave him. Further, he will likely be dealt strict UN sanctions and may face charges at The Hague. Further still, in accordance with club policy, Payet would be branded with a Claret A on his left breast.
